Stanley CuppsTed “Stanley” Cupps, 76, of Forestdale, Alabama, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

Stanley is survived by his son Brian (Terri) Cupps and daughter Amy (Eric) Green; grandchildren Savannah (Pete) Wiley, Lucy (Trey) White, Molly Kate Green, Anna Green, Jennifer Valentine, Adam Valentine and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents DD & Beulah Cupps and eleven siblings. Stanley was the last of his large family, marking the end of an era.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the service of life at 11 a.m. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home is located at 5203 Hollis Goodwin Road, Dora, Alabama 35062.

Born and raised in Walker County, Stanley was the 7th son of the 7th son who followed in the family footsteps left in the coal dust. From a meager start delivering house coal as a teenager to managing several coal companies in and around Walker County, Stanley Cupps was a name that many used when talking about the “best of the best” in the mining industry. He was known not only for his business acumen but for treating all of his employees with dignity and respect.

Countless lives were touched by Stanley through his 76 years on this earth. Family, employees, neighbors or people that never knew where the resources they needed came from were impacted by his generosity and thoughtfulness.

While he will be dearly missed, Stanley will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all who loved him.
