Gary Monroe Cravens Gary Monroe Cravens, age 77, of Tuscumbia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 09, 2025.

He was born on November 24, 1947, in Monteray, Tennessee to Wayne & Illa Dean Cravens. Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Lowes and was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was an all-around jokester and loved to tell good jokes and make people laugh. He was also a good friend to many.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Peggy Mathhues Cravens; children, Catrina Mathhues (Jay), Jesse Cravens (Victoria), Larry Cravens, Cheryl Cabrera, David Cravens; seven grandchildren; sister, Gayle Cravens; several nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded death by his parents, Illa Dean & Wayne Cravens and two brothers.

The visitation for Gary will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Bro. Greg Beasley and Bro. Johnny Watson speaking at the service. Burial will be at Jonesboro Cemetery with military honors. The pallbearers will be members of Valley Grove Baptist Church.

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of North Alabama Hospice and to our many friends at Valley Grove Baptist for your thoughts, prayers, and many acts of kindness.
