Janice Fay Elrod, age 63, of Horton, Alabama, passed away on November 5, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born on November 15, 1961. Janice was a loving mother who devoted her life to caring for her son and was always there to help anyone in need. She was a woman of strong faith, often depending on prayer to guide her through difficult times, and she found comfort and strength in her relationship with the Lord. Her kind and gentle spirit touched many, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Todd; father, J.D. Hancock; siblings, Myra Lowery (Ralph), Jerry Hancock, and Melanie Thompson (Phillip); chosen grandchild, Vivian; as well as several aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Yevonne “Bonnie” Hancock.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with Bro. Nellon Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
