Lana Jean Tidwell, beloved mother to 4 children, had a courageous battle with
Parkinson’s disease. She passed away on October 4, 2025. Her memory will be
forever cherished by family and friends.
Lana Tidwell graduated from Sullivan High School in 1960. She was a member of the Band, Chorus, Minstrel, Tri-Hi-Y, Speech Club and Booster Club. She continued her education at Lincoln Bible Institute in Lincoln, IL.
Her compassionate spirit was reflected in her support of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and Children’s Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond (Jerry) Tidwell, father Cecil
Alsman, mother Bernice Alsman, both of Sullivan, IN, and brother Les Alsman of
Spencer, Iowa, and granddaughter Sonya Lenae Winniger of Scottsboro, AL.
She leaves behind her daughters to cherish her memory. Tracy Chickadaunce (Matt) of Sullivan, IN; Sonya Mitchell (Stephen) of Birmingham, AL; Kimberly Hancock of Huntsville, AL and Cindy Tidwell (Grafton Farmer) of Birmingham, AL.
Lana Tidwell is survived by her grandchildren Srita Deverapalli, Katherine Mitchell, Reace Mitchell, Blake Hallwell (April), Lindsey McCrary (Michael), Shelby Hancock and Josh Hancock. Her great grandchildren are Kaylee, Bryson, Sadie, Eli and Noah. Her siblings are Larry Alsman (Margaret) and Lonnie Alsman (Barbara).
A funeral service to celebrate Lana’s life will be held at Scottsboro Funeral Home. Visitation time 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm is Thursday, October 9, 2025 with the service following. Chaplin Joe Klobuchar will be officiating. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery, surrounded by family and loved ones.
