Maxine Forsythe Frances Maxine Klutts Forsythe, wife of the late West Sanford “Sam” Forsythe, died Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 96.  She was born and raised in Lauderdale County, spending the last two and half years residing at Asbury Cove Assisted Living.  Since her first job as a seamstress and bookkeeper, to buying and selling jewelry at F&K jewelry, Maxine was constantly at work with her hands and keeping busy.  Her handmade Christmas stockings and blankets are favorites of all the grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by a daughter, Jan Teer (Patrick) of Jackson, Tenn.; three grandchildren:  William Teer (Emily) of Oxford, Miss., Jackson Teer (Haley) of Jackson, Tenn., and Walker Teer (Rachel) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren Eleanor Teer and Josie Teer.  Mrs. Forsythe is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews and was especially close to Anita Nation and Carolyn Mitchell.  Her extended Lauderdale County family will miss her greatly, and she will be fondly remembered by the staff at Asbury Cove.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member, with funeral services at 1 p.m.  Interment will follow in Mary’s Chapel Cemetery.  Garner Funeral Home of Ripley has charge of the services.  Memorials may be directed to Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church.
