August 30, 1943 – September 10, 2025
Les was born August 30th, 1943, and passed away September 10th, 2025, of a heart attack at his home in Hazel Green, AL. He was also known as Pepaw, Bubba, and Granddad to his various grandchildren. He was a native of Grapevine, TX. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Lester of Hazel Green, AL, his daughters Gwen (James) Hillard of Virgina Beach, VA, and Virginia Johnson of Huntsville, AL, his son Joe (Susan) Rickard of Huntsville, AL, his brother Stephen (Norma) Lester of Millstadt, Illinois, and long-time family friend Candy Humphreys of Virginia Beach, VA. He is survived as well by his 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In his younger years, he fished and gardened, but later on, you could find him on his lawnmower. Les was married to his wife, Carolyn, for 37 years, but they were together 40+ years. They had a long, loving, and lively marriage and had a large, blended family together. He cared greatly for this large family. One of his favorite things was karaoke, and he could be heard many nights singing or running the show.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated, and there will not be a formal service, but there will be a private service to be announced later.
