Phil Gary Lane, 75, passed peacefully from this life, after a brief illness, into his eternal home on September 7, 2025. He was born on March 6th, 1950, to Charles Hubert Lane and Beulah Kitchens Lane in Decatur, Alabama.
Phil was a man of quiet faith, a devoted husband, a caring brother and uncle, and enjoyed the fellowship of a large circle of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Shorty Lane, and sister, Agnes Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife Sheree Sharp Lane, brother, Pat Lane (Carolyn), sisters, Trixie Moland, Leese Grantland (Michael), sisters-in-law Gayle Lane, Patsy Turner, Peggy Vaughn (Jim), Suzette Fussell (Dennis), Philda Starks-Reed (James) and his nieces Monica Doherty, Robin Wilson, Breanna Corder, Leanna Grantland, Amy Toombs, Marcey Bibb, and Julie Sherman, nephews, Greg Lane, Joey McAbee, Mark Lane, Troy McAbee, Chris McAbee, Lee Rooks, Marty Randolph, Stanley Bibb, Ashley McDonald and Ian Starks. He regarded his nieces and nephews with the same love and devotion as one would his own children.
Phil graduated from Danville High School, class of 1968 and shortly after graduation was drafted and served the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.
Upon his return he married his sweetheart, Sheree. Together they built a life they loved that endured for over 53 years.
Phil was employed by Dunlop Tires, retired and ran his mother’s community store and gas station in the Oak Ridge community.
Those who know Phil will remember his love of playing softball, riding motorcycles, and trolling Lacon and Ardmore for many fun and unusual gifts for Sheree and family members. Phil had a charisma for storytelling. He was an avid storyteller and kept everyone in stitches at family gatherings. He will be forever missed.

A Graveside Funeral service for Phil Gary Lane, 75, will be Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Hartselle City Cemetery with Bro. Donnie McDonald officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Phil will be laid to rest at Hartselle City Cemetery with full military honors.
