“There are some who bring a light so great into the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.”
Mary Lee Mann, age 93, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Born on December 4, 1931, in Madison County to Edna Ruth Andrews and Clyde Patrick Andrews, Mary was a woman of quiet strength, endless grace, and deep devotion—to her faith, her family, and her friends. She was married for 39 years to Albert Mann Jr.
Mary dedicated many years of her life to serving the City of Huntsville, retiring with the same dignity and warmth that she brought to everything she did. But perhaps her most cherished role was that of a giver—of love, of time, and of her famous baked goods. If you were lucky enough to receive her homemade coconut cake or cheese straws, you knew you held a special place in her heart. It was her sweet, unspoken way of saying, “You matter to me.”
Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sheri Laree Henson, and her beloved grandson, Brandon Lake Henson, who brought her immense joy and pride. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her memory in their hearts. She now joins in eternal peace her husband, Albert Mann Jr.; her son, Barry Lake Henson; her sister, Evelyn Ruth Holcomb; her brother, Curtis Carter Andrews; and her parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hayden Cemetery in New Hope.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of North Alabama (2905 Westcorp Blvd SW #116, Huntsville, AL 35805) or to Locust Grove Baptist Church (171 County Lake Road, New Market, AL 35761)
Mary Lee Mann leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength. She will be missed deeply—but remembered always, with full hearts and grateful souls.
