Bobby “Bob” Ray Melton, 82, of Florence, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 12-1 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.  The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Ian Butler.

Bob was born on October 30, 1942, in Florence, AL.  After graduating from Coffee High School, he joined the United States Navy.  After four years of service, he then moved back to Florence bringing and introducing respiratory therapy to E. C. M. hospital and the southeast.  He paved the way for what it has become today.

Bob lived a full and adventurous life with his wife of 64 years, Mary Sisk Melton.  They traveled all over the United States. Bob and Mary shared an extraordinary bond and were happily married.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Rosa Lee Melton; siblings, Thomas B. Melton, Sue M. Stricklin, James L. Melton, and Ether Mae Redding.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Stan Melton (Jana) and David Melton (Denise); grandchildren, Quaid Melton, Jessie Melton, Alex Melton, Scott Melton, and Cory Schurfeld.

Pallbearers will be David Melton, Stan Melton, Quaid Melton, Scott Melton, Alex Melton, and Cory Schurfeld.
