William Wayne Brewer, age 83, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away on August 18, 2025. He was born on July 28, 1942, to the late William Lee Brewer and Willie Ruth Hester Brewer.
At 18 years old, Wayne enlisted in the Army National Guard, completing basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, in 1960. He proudly served as a Corporal during the Vietnam era. Though his company was prepared for deployment, they were held back, yet Wayne’s dedication and willingness to serve reflected his deep courage and love for his country.
Wayne was a master electrician and worked with Hood Electric for nearly two decades in the 1970s before beginning his career with the Marshall County School System. He retired in 1997 after serving for 25 years as Maintenance Supervisor.
He loved fishing and hunting, and especially enjoyed bow hunting with his wife, Gearldine. Together, they competed in local and state archery tournaments, winning numerous awards for their skill.
Wayne married Gearldine Jackson April 14 1967, and together they made their home on Buck Island, where they lived for more than 50 years. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life was centered on his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gearldine; his daughter, Jerrie Steele (Brian); and his cherished grandchildren, Will Kirk (Kristin) and Mallory Treadwell (Adam). Wayne was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Blake and Brewer Treadwell, who brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brother, Johnny Brewer (Katherine), and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters, Gail Harden (Sonny) and Layfette Ashley (Billy Ray).
Wayne will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a proud veteran, and a man whose quiet strength and love for his family will never be forgotten.
