Marlon Ferrell Smith Marlon Ferrell Smith, age 92, of the Sweet Home/Scant City community of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
Born on May 24, 1933, Marlon was the beloved son of Nathaniel Joel Smith and Lola Gladys McElroy Smith. He was a cherished husband to Jimmie Glynavis Head Smith, with whom he shared over 68 years of devoted marriage.
A proud US Army veteran, Marlon served his country during the Korean War Era. He later dedicated his professional life to Bellefonte Nuclear Plant in Hollywood, Alabama, where he worked as a skilled professional drafting technician. His commitment and expertise left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
When opportunity arose, Marlon enjoyed trips to the Gulf, where he found joy fishing in the backwaters. He was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church, and his life was marked by a quiet strength, deep faith, and warm generosity. Marlon was a pillar of his community and will be remembered for his kindness and gentle spirit.
Marlon is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie Glynavis Smith; his daughter and son-in-law, Caroletta and Robert Scofield; grandchildren, Taylor Scofield and Scarlett Hyman (Corey); great grandchildren, Jacob Hyman and William Hyman. He will be deeply missed.
Services for Marlon will be Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. The family will greet friends and guests at a visitation beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral service begins at 2:00 pm. Brother Greg Narrell will be officiating. Interment will take place in New Friendship Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Robert Scofield, Dan Scofield, Traylor Scofield, Wendell Smith, Jerry Smith and Rodney Hicks. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
