Euzell Thomas Phillips Profile Photo Mr. Euzell T. “Tom” Phillips Jr. of Hazel Green passed away on Saturday while surrounded by his loving family. He was 85. He was born and grew up on Hester’s Creek in New Market.

Tom had retired from civil service at Redstone Arsenal where he worked for the United States Army. He was a Christian and attended the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green. He loved working in his garden and watching westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Euzell T. Phillips Sr & Edith Rosa Fanning Phillips and by his brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Phillips.

Surviving family members include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Brooks Phillips; his son, Steven Phillips; his daughter, Donna Honaker; his four grandchildren: Rylee Phillips, Olivia Phillips, Kenzie Honaker, and Samuel Phillips; his two brothers: William “Bill” (Dolly) Phillips and Connie (Patsy) Phillips; his two sisters: Bettye (Ray) Desrosiers and Carolyn Phillips.

At Tom’s request, the family has planned private services with burial in Charity Cemetery.

Tom will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his easy-going nature, and for his love for his friends and family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
