ARDMORE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a multi-vehicle accident near Ardmore that has taken the life of an Athens man:
“A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, has claimed the life of an Athens man.
Robert A. Kowal Jr., 45, was fatally injured when the 2007 GMC Sierra pick up that he was driving struck a 2016 Honda CRV driven by Krystal N. Hayes, 43, of Toney. After the initial impact, the GMC then collided head-on with a 2017 Ford F-250 driven by Mario Roman, 41, of Athens. As a result of that impact, the trailer that the Ford was towing detached and collided head-on with a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Michael K. Bradberry, 53, of Meridianville. The Ford then left the roadway and struck a ditch. The Chevrolet also left the roadway and struck a tree.
Kowal was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bradberry also was not using a seat belt at the time of crash, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 251 near McKee Road, approximately eight miles south of Ardmore, in Limestone County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
