Charles David Baker Jr, of Grant, AL, passed away in a tragic accident on July 31, 2025 at the age 71. Born on May 29, 1954, in Sanford, FL. David was the son of the late Charles David, Sr and Joyce (Flo) Baker.
David lived a full and exciting life. He traveled all over the country during his 45+ year career as an Industrial insulation specialist. He was a member of Local Union 78 of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers.
His passion was anything and everything about motorcycles. From cruising around town in his Hawaiian shirt, to riding in the Trail of Tears, locating original parts for restoring vintage motorcycles including a ‘46 Harley and competing and winning multiple motorcycle competitions, he was never away from his bikes for a long period of time.
He was a gifted mechanic/general handyman. There was hardly ever a problem he couldn’t fix himself. His favorite music to listen to while doing all his various jobs was Jimmy Buffet and John Prine. He loved animals, owning many different types; both domestic and various farm animals from Horses to Goats to Chickens.
David is survived by his wife Carolyn; and his daughters Amy Stucker and Mariah Baker; his step-daughters, Odessa Langlais and Letha Prince; step-son Jarred Porter; along with their families. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he reached but never met. Through him, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like.
David will be remembered at a visitation on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm at Scottsboro Funeral Home. There will be no funeral service.
