Lorraine Alice Benedict Lorraine Alice Benedict, 70, of Falkville, Alabama passed away July 24, 2025.  She was surrounded by her husband of 53 years, Stanley E. Benedict; her daughter Heather M. Benedict-Hamilton (Leo); son William J. Benedict and his wife Teresa; and niece Dena Alessi-Forte.

Lorrie is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers William James Cobb and Ransome R. Varney (Donna); sister Marylin J Alessi (Dino); and nephews Francesco Alessi and Joseph Howard. She is survived by her sister Gertrude Howard (Kenneth), and several nieces and nephews.

Lorrie was born in Johnson City, New York on 9 March 1955 to Aurthur Joseph Cobb and Dorothy Irene Cobb. Lorrie was an avid gardener, excellent cook, and artist. Her many needlepoint creations will be cherished for generations. In her later years, Lorrie was a passionate genealogist always on the hunt to resurface old family stories.

She was a devoted wife to Stanley; mother to Heather and William (and their spouses Leo and Teresa); and grandmother to Audrey (Heather), Nathaniel and Benjamin (William). Her strong convictions, resilience, and powerful voice will live on in her children and grandchildren with her favorite saying, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”.

There was and will be no one quite like her with her deep devotion to family and her fierce will to fight for what she felt was right. From the moment you were a member of her family, she never hesitated to do what she believed correct and was always there for support.

No public service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or Arboretum.
