Johnny Ray Morris, 73, of Parrish, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his home. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Johnny was the steady heartbeat of a family that adored him.

Born on June 1, 1952, Johnny was a man of quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering love. He shared 45 beautiful years of marriage  with the love of his life, Doris Sanford Morris.  Together, they built a life rich in love, resilience, and family.

He was the proud father of Brandon Morris (Courtney), John Morris (Victoria), and Alicia Earley (Bengie), but his favorite title was “Papa Doc”  to his 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, a name that captured the love, wisdom, and comfort he gave so freely. Whether it was a handshake, a hug, or a whispered “I’m proud of you,” Papa Doc has a way of making you feel seen and deeply loved.  He was the kind of  man who never let you leave without hearing “I love you.” That simple act said everything about who he was, a man whose love was steady, freely given, and always known.

Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Debra Kaye Glasgow and Barbera Faye Morris. We take comfort in knowing they are now reunited.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Visitation will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., with graveside services to follow.  Everyone who knew him, whether for a lifetime or just for a moment, is welcome. If Johnny ever crossed your path, you were better for it.

There are people whose love is quiet but unforgettable. People whose absence leaves a silence louder than words. That was Johnny. That  was our Papa Doc.  And though the shop light is off, and his favorite chair now sits empty, we will carry him with us in the way we love, in the way we listen, and in the way we make sure the people in our lives never leave without knowing just how much they mean.
