W.A. Johnson, age 89, of Horton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. He was born on November 17, 1935, to the late Earl and Dorothy Johnson.
W.A. was a hardworking man with a deep love for the land. After retirement, he found great joy in farming full-time, a passion that brought him peace and purpose throughout his later years.
He is survived by his loving children: Tammy Ross (Roger), Laura Landers (Faron), Jeff Johnson (Traci), Terri James (Phillip), and Tracy Sims (Tim); 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ella Pierce, Louise Foshee, and James Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Douglas Cemetery with Bro. Billy Hicks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in honor of the compassionate care they provided.
