Joan Morgan Nelson Joan Morgan Nelson, 72, of Decaturville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 1, 1953, in Decaturville to the late Kyle and Irene Harrington Morgan, she was one of nine children. She graduated from Scotts Hill High School and later spent many dedicated years working at IAPPEL Garment Factory, where she was known for her strong work ethic and steady kindness. She became disabled in 2015 due to multiple chronic and progressive medical illnesses. She spent the past ten years at Westwood Heath and Rehabilitation where she was cared for by very loving and attentive caregivers that became more like family than staff. A devoted Christian, she lived a life of faith, love, and selflessness. She gave generously to others, never letting anyone go hungry, and always offering a helping hand to those in need. She had a deep love for animals, babies, and the simple beauty of flowers. Her favorite moments were spent outdoors—watching hummingbirds and cardinals, strolling the beach, and enjoying nature’s peace. She was the beloved mother of Virginia Frizzell (Daniel) and Cheryl Middleton (Glenn); cherished grandmother to Britney Frizzell, Dana Frizzell, Lane Middleton, and Dixie Middleton Whybrew (Tyler); and was joyfully anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Cain Whybrew, due in November 2025. She is survived by her siblings Lucille Jones, Thomas Morgan, Ronald Morgan, and Daniel Morgan (Judy), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Donald Morgan, Franklin Morgan, Janice Acred, and her beloved twin brother, Vance Morgan. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Nelson. She will be remembered for her compassion, her strength, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and community. Her memory will live on in every life she touched, in every bird that graces the garden, and in every flower that blooms.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 3 PM, Saturday, July 12, 2025 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 1 – 3 PM at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill.
