John W. Mayfield, Jr., age 75, of Russellville, passed away on Sunday, July 06, 2025, at his residence.
Jr. loved his friends, especially his co-workers, and loved to make people laugh. He loved attending Calvary Baptist Church and his friends at the church. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed by all who know him.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 33 years, Melissa Horton Mayfield; sons, Jonathan Mayfield (Joella), Brandon Herring (Lindsey); grandchildren, Joseph Mayfield, Jeremiah Mayfield, Jamison Mayfield, Juniper Mayfield, Mason Herring, Maddox Herring, Lyza Herring; brother, Jerry Mayfield (Marilyn), sister, Annette Oliver; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Mayfield, Sr. & Neta Laster Mayfield, siblings, Delmar Mayfield, Jimmy Mayfield, Jack Mayfield, Pearline Vincent, Betty Green, and Louise Byrd.
The visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in the funeral home chapel. Speaking at the service will be Bro. Wade Wallace, Bro. Dennis Steward, and Josh Horton. The burial will be at Fergason Cemetery in Town Creek.
The pall bearers will be Mason Herring, Maddox Herring, Vic Osborn, Danny O’Daniel, Steve Green, Shannon Oliver, Dale Mayfield, Donny Baker, and Doug Henderson.
