ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle crash including a bicycle has taken the life of an Anderson man:
“A single-vehicle crash involving a bicyclist that occurred at approximately 7:09 a.m. Monday, June 23, has claimed the life of an Anderson man.
Bill L. Gildersleeve, 72, was fatally injured when the Fragment 6061 bicycle that he was operating was struck by the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude driven by Ragen J. Eddy, 28, of Falkville. After the initial impact, Gildersleeve was thrown for the bicycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Gildersleeve was not using a helmet at the time of crash.
The crash occurred on Alabama 99 near Flanagan Road, approximately 12 miles northwest of Athens, in Limestone County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
