Betty Alice Horn Mayall, 89, of Lineville Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025. Born in Clay County on February 2, 1936, Betty lived a life defined by faith, devotion, and love for her family.
A 1954 graduate of Bibb Graves High School in Millerville, she married the love of her life, Harlon Mayall, on July 2, 1955. As a proud Air Force wife, Betty embraced the adventure of seeing the world while raising her two daughters, Rhonda and Melody, in various locations.
Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a gift for creating a warm and welcoming home, where she often expressed her love through sewing, crocheting, and preparing delicious meals. She especially enjoyed canning and putting away fresh vegetables from her husband’s annual garden – something she looked forward to every season.
She had a passion for shopping and thrifting, and delighted in collecting Precious Moments figurines, each one a small treasure that brought her joy. In her later years, Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working word puzzles, and watching her favorite game shows – Wheel of Fortune being her favorite.
A faithful member of Lineville Baptist Church for over 48 years, Betty deeply loved her church family and the fellowship they shared.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Smith of Birmingham and Melody Laney (Mike) of Ohatchee; grandchildren: Janet Richey (Chad), Jeff Harkins (Sarah), Jennifer Harrell (Shane), and Michaela Smith; and five beloved great-grandchildren: Jack Richey, Robert Richey, Guy Richey, Laney Harrell, and Charley Harrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlon Mayall; her parents, James Elam Horn and Minnie Horn; and her siblings: Ancil Horn, James Horn, Wallace Horn, Lewis Horn, Bram Horn, Max Horn, Mae Davis, Helen Denson, and Jean Pritchard.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Harkins, Shane Harrell, chad Richey, Jack Richey, Robert Richey, and Guy Richey.
Flowers are accepted. Donations may also be made in Betty’s Memory to Lineville Baptist Church, P.O.Box 356, Lineville, AL 36266. The family would like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Home Health and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.
Betty’s gentle spirit, enduring love, and the simple joys she found in everyday life will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
