Roy L. Baker, Jr., of Arab, Alabama, formerly of Florida and Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, surrounded by love and family. Born in Middlesboro, Kentucky December 6, 1946, Roy lived a full and spirited life defined by his entrepreneurial drive, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Roy was a proud United States Marine, drafted to serve his country with strength and honor. His passion for people and business made every venture an adventure.
He called Florida home for nearly two decades before settling in Arab, Alabama in 2022. Roy cherished life’s simple pleasures: writing poetry, giving heartfelt gifts, sharing meals with friends, and spending treasured moments with his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol Ann Baker.
Roy is survived by his loving wife: Carol; his sisters: Pat Schlosser and Julie Kleman; his children: Tim (Amanda) Baker, Lisa (Mike) Linthicum, and Amy (Chris) Patterson; five grandchildren: Kevin Kucera, Tyler (Meghan) Wilson, Cabe (Jonna) Lulfs, Cole Lulfs, and Ava Baker; two great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Roy L. Baker, Sr.
The family has chosen cremation with no formal service. Gober Funeral Chapel assisted the Baker family with cremation arrangements.
Roy’s legacy is one of laughter, love, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed.
