Otey, Jr., 67, born June 25, 1957 in Huntsville, Alabama to Onezean Otey, Sr. and Mildred D. Otey. On Monday, May 26, 2025 he continued his journey from Lawrenceburg Tennessee, the place where he built his legacy. He was retired from Parkridge Hospital, Jasper, Tennessee as a Medical Laboratory Supervisor, a Pathfinder leader for many years in Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and was a current member as secretary with the West Gaines School Community Center, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Kathleen E. Otey; daughter, Katrina D. Otey, sons: Onezean Otey, III and Onesimus Otey, wife, Jacklyn Otey, Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Constance Hanold, Kathlynn Otey, Dominic Otey; sister, Melonie D Smith, Pastor John L. Smith, husband, Richton Park, Illinois; nieces: Ashli L. Smith and Alexis M. Smith; nephew, Jaelin J. Smith; and a host of cousins.
Memorial service for Mr. Onezean Otey, Jr. b.k.a. “Penny” will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May the 31, 2025 at the Bethel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (476 Baltimore Hill Huntsville, Alabama, 35810).
Interment will be at Baltimore Cemetery at a later date.
