Amaryllis White Self, 83, passed on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Tunica Nursing Home. Amaryllis was born in Sledge, MS on March 17, 1942, to Sam and Catherine Pinkston Smith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a good friend to many. She worked many years at Sardis Nursing Home, where she enjoyed helping others. She enjoyed her many years living on the coast, country music, and word search puzzles. She will be missed by all those that loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Steve White (Betty) of Byhalia, MS. Jimmy White (Peggy) of Ripley, MS, William White of Juneau, AK, Ray Self (Paula) of Vancleave, MS, and Tommy Self of Vancleave, MS, her daughters, Norma Sue Whittle of Senatobia, MS, Melinda Tallent (David) of Senatobia, MS, and Cathy Goleman (Rueall) of Grand Bay, Al, her 23 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Herman White and Cecil Self, her son, Floyd White, her daughters, Mary Whittle and Patty Self, her grandson, Danny Whittle, her brother, Lindsey Smith, and her 5 sisters, Rita Simminerio, Dovie Stutts, Maxine Ward, Betty McDonald, and Patricia Woodburn.
Services will be 2PM Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, MS with Bro. Greg Hurt officiating. Visitation will begin at 1PM. Burial will follow in Antioch Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Whittle, Brian Sanders, Rodger Whittle, Jeremy Whittle, Alexander Sanders, Jimmy White, Sr., Steve White, and Jimmy White, Jr.
