Janet Leslie Sanders Hatfield
Janet was born on September 7, 1956, and passed away May 12, 2025, at the age of 68. Jan was a resident of Madison, Alabama. She is survived by her husband, Bo Hatfield; sons, Mitchell Hatfield of Phenix City, AL and Josh Hatfield (Tori Bentley Hatfield) of Toney, AL; brother, John Sanders (Sharon Sanders) of Phenix City, Alabama); as well as brothers and sisters-in law, and nieces and nephews.

Jan was gracious, thoughtful, kind, and loving. She personalized the meaning of a southern lady. She loved her family and friends immensely. Although somewhat quiet, she never met a stranger. Jan was an easy person to talk with and could make friends with anyone.

She held an associate’s degree in arts from Chattahoochee Valley State Community College. Her working career was with AFLAC Corporation and Pratt & Whitney in Columbus, GA before turning her attention to becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. At home, her greatest accomplishment was achieved by raising two boys to become great young men. Being a faithful and loving wife was by far the next greatest achievement. Her friendship and devotion to her husband and family established a cornerstone that will stand for many years to come.

Jan was a volunteer at the Rose of Sharon Homeless Shelter in Huntsville, as well as a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville. She loved her church and Sunday School Class. She loved all things Auburn as well as spending time in retirement at her Lake Martin cabin in Jackson’s Gap, AL. She loved to be out on the lake in the boat. Her passion was her constant companion for the past 12 years, the family dog Aubie.

She will be deeply missed by those who are left behind and their love for her will live forever. God Bless this sweet lady.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will immediately follow at the church with Dr. Kevin Moore officiating.
