A. J. “Jack” Nation, Jr., age 85, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at NHC in Moulton. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Shelton Funeral Home on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with Pat Patterson officiating.
Born on February 10, 1940, in Tampa, Florida, Jack was the beloved son of Arthur Jackson Nation and Elizabeth Hoke Nation. He dedicated his career as a Millwright with General Motors, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Jack also proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of service and sacrifice.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Elizabeth Nation, and his cherished son, Warren Jackson Nation. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, remembered fondly by his nephews, Michael George, Mark George, and Pete George; his niece, Leah George; and his cousin, Richard Whitson.
Jack’s warm spirit and kind heart touched the lives of many. He was a man of integrity, known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, an organization that provided comfort and care during Jack’s final days.
