Joe Harris, age 80 passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025. His funeral service will be held at Albertville Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 3 p.m. Viewing for his family is at 1 p.m. and friends is from 1:30 until 3. Rev. Glen Pankey will officiate and David Pankey will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Mark Patterson, Jeremy Maddox, Mike Jarvis, Jonathan Harris, Jeff Harris and Daniel Blackwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Cofield and Danny Blackwell.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Ray and Suzie Harris, brothers; Arvil Harris, Wayne Harris and E. J. Harris, sisters; Oma Dee Harris and Nancy Sims.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; Bonnie Harris, son; Brent Harris, daughter-in-law; Mellissa Harris, granddaughters; Morgan and Suzie Harris, brothers; Roy Harris, Bill Harris and Leon Harris and also a host of nieces and nephews.
Joe was born October 7, 1944 and was a life long resident of Hyatt, Al. He loved being outside, early morning rabbit hunts with his beagles, horseback riding, tinkering with lawn mowers with Roy and get togethers with family and friends. When parting ways, he’d always say “Doors Always Wide Open.”
Joe retired from Tyson after 42 years as a diesel mechanic. But the job he enjoyed most was being Grandaddy to Morgan and Suzie and being Uncle Joe to everyone else.
