Joshua Hollis Ayers, 43, after a three-year decline in health, departed this earthly realm for his heavenly home on Thursday, April 24, 2025 while a patient at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Josh was born on Dec. 11, 1981, in Colbert Co., Ala to the late Larry Hollis Ayers and Judy Burcham Ayers Woods, who survives. He lived his entire life in Colbert Co where he was a master brick mason. He professed faith in God at an early age at Parkview Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Ala. A lover of the outdoors and all God’s creation, Josh enjoyed hunting and fishing, working in the garden, growing blueberries and spending time with his family and friends. Always a jokester and “clown”, he was outspoken but had the personality to always make people laugh. He will be missed by a large host of friends and family.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Saturday, May 3, 2025 from Parkview Baptist Church with Bro. Casey Hagle officiating. Holland Funeral Directors/Cremations-Tupelo (662 840-5000) is honored to serve their friends.
Josh is survived by his mother, Judy Burcham Woods; his sister, Greta Byrd (Victor), and his brother, Brian Woods (Carolyn Davis) all of Tuscumbia; his daughter, Hazel; his aunt, Shelia Ayers; his uncle, Ray Ayers; Uncle Josh’s nieces and nephews, Brittany Woods, Laken Woods, Stephen Brooks, Braden Byrd, Ashton Brooks, Brysen Brooks, Ocean Thompson, and Kingston Thompson. He was preceded in death by his dad, Larry Ayers, and other near relatives.
