Opal Boyd Norton Opal Boyd Norton (Mamaw) was born in Cullman, Alabama on December 29, 1920, to
Thomas Jefferson Boyd and Josephine L. Gann Boyd. Opal was the youngest of 11 children.
She was saved in June of 1945 and was a devout Christian. Opal Married James Henry
Norton Jr. Opal and James owned Tip Top Grocery Store in Decatur, AL. and served their
community for many years in the grocery business. Over their 59 years of marriage, they
were actively involved in several churches and Opal was a member of Fairview Baptist
Church in Decatur. They had two sons, James Henry Norton III and Aubrey Wayne Norton.
Mamaw had 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.

Mrs. Norton is survived by her daughter in law, Janice Norton of Vestavia Hills; granddaughter, Donna Norton Saunders (John) of Vestavia Hills, AL; great grandson, Ben Saunders of Vestavia Hills, AL; grandson, Mark Norton (Shelia) of Hoover, AL; great granddaughters Audrey Campbell (Cole), Ellie Norton both of Chelsea, AL; great-great granddaughter, Collins Campbell also of Chelsea, AL; nieces Gail Busby and Janet Stallings of Decatur, AL; great nephew, John Barnett (Stephanie) of Decatur, AL; friend, Bruce Stalling of Decatur, Al; along with many other treasured family member and friends.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Decatur City Cemetery with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home.
