The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library SCREENING ROOM series continues at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, with a special showing of director John Ford’s gripping and magnificent Western THE SEARCHERS (1956) at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, 350 N. Wood Ave., Florence, Alabama. John Wayne plays an embittered Confederate veteran on a relentless, years-long quest to find a niece (Natalie Wood) kidnapped by Indians. Jeffrey Hunter, Vera Miles, Ward Bond, Harry Carey Jr., John Qualen, Henry Brandon, Olive Carey, Ken Curtis, Hank Worden and Lana Wood co-star. Admission is free.
