Joshua "Josh" Ervin Smith Mr. Joshua “Josh” Ervin Smith, age 44, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital. Josh, a former resident of Lacey’s Spring, was born January 12, 1981 in Berrein, Michigan. His parents were Jimmy Dean Smith, Sr. and Darlene Rose Cowles Smith. He and Sylvia Oropeza Smith were married for over 14 years. Josh was a truck driver by trade and did concrete work for Reed Construction. He was a member of Huntsville First Baptist Church.

Josh was just a big kid at heart. He enjoyed life to its fullest and was considered to be a comedian. Anytime Josh saw an opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face, he did so either with a kind gesture or a joke. He tinkered with bicycles and turned them into Motor powdered machines and was always attempting to create new inventions. He enjoyed going mudding on his jeep or maybe playing a game of pool.

Family Josh leaves behind to cherish their memories include his wife, Sylvia Smith, mother Darlene “Nana: Rose Smith; son, Joshua Ervin Smith, Jr; daughter, Emma Rose Smith; brother, Jimmy Dean Smith; sister Melissa Mae Smith; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Josh is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Dean Smith, Sr.

The family has elected to honor Josh’s wishes for cremation. A Memorial / Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. The family will receive friends and guests for a visitation time from 1:00 until 2:00pm. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm.
