Mr. Bowen passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his home. Mr. Bowen was born in Tallapoosa County, served for almost three years in the military during the Vietnam War, with 12 years in the National Guard, and worked as a project manager for Steven’s Construction for several years. Mr. Bowen loved fishing and that’s where you could find him on any given day. He could out-fish anyone, including his son and grandsons. His loving wife, Gail was the love of his life, and they enjoyed baking cakes and cookies together, as well as gardening. He devoted his life to taking care of her and their four beautiful children. Later on in life, he was blessed to be called PawPaw Terry by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family. Terry was a Deacon of the Baptist faith for many years and as a member County Line Baptist Church, he loved going and serving as often as he could, worshiping and praising the Lord and Savior.

Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sara Gail Bowen of Ashland; four children: Jeremy Bowen (Stacy) of Ashland, Wendy Watts (Ron) of Kellyton, Mindy Bowen (Jordan Crist) of Auburn, and Lindy Haynes (Barry) of Ashland; 8 grandchildren: Michael Bowen (Brittany), Tyler Bowen (Hailey), Garrett Bowen (Micaila), Walker Crist-Bowen, Sarah Waldrop (Logan), Adam Watts, Tyler Boyd, and Ashley Johnson; 9 great-grandchildren, plus other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James William Bowen Jr and Mary Ruth Walker Bowen, three sisters and three brothers.

His visitation will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland, beginning at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. He will lie in state at County Line Baptist Church on Monday, April 7th from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
