Mr. James Leon Murphy, age 79, of Millport, AL, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.
Mr. Murphy was born February 23, 1946, in Columbus, MS, to the late William Earle and Ellen Elizabeth (Woodbury) Murphy. He was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ and taught at Faulkner University and Freed Hardeman University. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Marie Hacker and William Thomas Murphy.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 7, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Travis Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Murphy, of Millport, AL; two sons, Nathan Andrew Murphy of Vernon, AL and John Daniel Murphy of Ogden, UT; one brother, Michael Earle Murphy of Caledonia, MS; one grandson, Austin James Murphy; one sister-in-law, Sarah Joanna Murphy; and a host of other family and friends.
