Philip Anthony Hartmann Philip Hartmann, 84, of New Market, Alabama, died April 2, 202,5, at his home of natural causes. Philip was born to Leona Gruss (d. 1988) and Richard Hartmann (d. 1995) in Hagerstown, Maryland on February 15, 1941.

Philip served his country from 1961 to 1971 in the United States Army, including assignments in Germany and Vietnam during the dreaded Tet Offensive. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in January of 1971.

Philip married Patricia Ann Hodges on October 24, 1966, in Alabama. They continued to live in Alabama, where he found work as a Security Guard first for Sizemore Security and finally Weiser Security, which he retired from after several years.

Philip was preceded in death by brothers, Francis (1935-2012), Leo (1943-2022); sisters, Agnes (1934-2013) and Leona (1938-2016). He was also preceded in death by daughter, Tammy Luann (1977).

He is survived by his wife Patricia (74), son George Anthony (57), daughter Maylee Denise (40), and sisters Elsie Boone and Martha Ann Hubert. Philip was a dedicated and devoted father who will be dearly missed by his family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.  The service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tim Cole officiating.  Internment will take place at Ford’s Chapel Cemetery.

Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
