It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved father, husband, son and friend, John William McKinney III, who was taken away from us on March 19, 2025, at the age of 53. John worked tirelessly as a vocational expert for more than twenty-five years, positively impacting the lives of countless members of his community and elsewhere. He was raised in Red Bay, Alabama, where the importance of family and community were engrained in him from a young age. John will be remembered not only as a fierce friend and a loving father, husband and son, but also as a man of pride. Pride in where he came from, pride in where he had been, pride in the friends he made along the way, but above all, pride in those that he loved.

The visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, at the Laughlin Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Red Bay City Cemetery from 12-1 p.m. with Jo Bush and Jeffery McKinney officiating,  followed by a celebration of life at the First Baptist Church of Red Bay’s fellowship hall from 1-3 PM with Jonathan McKinney officiating. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Jennifer Bush McKinney; sons, Samuel W.W. McKinney, Griffin C. McKinney, John W. McKinney IV, Samuel P. Davis, and Collin E. Renee; mother, Esta Lee McKinney; brothers, Jerrod W. McKinney (Donna) and Jeffery W. McKinney (Allison) and sister, Jada L. McKinney (Mitch). He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Wayne McKinney.

Pallbearers will be Carl Lowe, Mark Jackson, Clay Martin, Richard Hammock, Bailey Wellborn, Brett Knight, Jake Pitts and Jeffery Charles McKinney.
