 Mitchell Glen Vinson, 66, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025 at UAB, Birmingham, AL after a brief illness. He has owned and operated Piggly Wiggly for many years after working alongside his father who had opened the store in 1963. It has been a family business which also includes his mother, sister, brother-in-law and now his children. He was a longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church and shook hands with everyone every Sunday. He had made mission trips since 1981 for Franklin County Baptist Association and participated in Eight Days of Hope. Glen was District Director for Gideons International.

Services will be Sunday, March 16, 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Bill Harper, Rusty Curbow and Jeremy Robinson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 1-4 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Kathy Vinson; two children, Jason Vinson (Jessica) and Ashley Blackburn (Gary); grandchildren, Jalen Vinson, Lila Blackburn, Jaycee Vinson, Jaxon Vinson, Kyla Blackburn and Bella Blackburn; mother, Anne Vinson; sister, Debbie Pharr (Greg); brother, David Vinson (Carla); sister-in-law, Janette Boyd (Alan) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Glen Vinson; a brother, Jeff Vinson; grandparents, C.O. Mitchell & Eulala Mitchell and Buck Vinson & Meadie Vinson and sister-in-law, Linda Smith (Frankie).

Pallbearers will be Royce Miller, Daniel Wright, Steve Cain, Mike Shewbart, John James, Jeff Thorn, Jeffery Holcomb and Donald Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International, Franklin West Camp, P.O. Box 1203, Red Bay, AL 35582.
