Thomas James McAdams, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. He was born on September 30, 1948, to James (Jim) and Mary Wilmore McAdams in Salina, Kansas. Tom spent his early childhood in Cheyenne, Wyoming, before moving to Huntsville, Alabama, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Tom had a distinguished career earning many awards, starting at Lockheed Martin before transitioning to a role as a civil servant supporting the Army as a Computer Scientist. In his later years, he worked for NATO as Software Engineering Director. After retirement, Tom dedicated much of his time to supporting various civic organizations and was always one of the first to lend a hand to those in need.
Tom’s greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. He treasured every opportunity to visit his son and family in Utah, creating cherished memories with them. Tom also looked forward to his regular breakfast outings with friends, where he would regale everyone with stories and lively conversation. His warmth, generosity, humor and storytelling will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom will be greatly missed by all his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Hudgins McAdams; his daughter Dawn Parish (Kurt Taylor); his sons Todd McAdams (Nicole), and David McAdams (Kristin); and his grandchildren: Emeralde Parish, Makayla McAdams, Jak McAdams, Cathryn Dailey, Beatrice Daily, Tate McAdams, and Lyla McAdams; his great granddaughters: Breanna Straatman and Taylor Straatman; special nephew Jeff Johnson (Clarissa); and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Lesa Gass.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Parish (13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803). Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the Mass. The Rite of Committal will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Good Shepherd Catholic Parish clergy and parishioners, Holy Spirit Catholic Parish clergy, and many friends and neighbors for prayers and support during this difficult time. Their love and support have been a source of comfort and strength.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
