Bobby Gene Heard, a cherished member of the Collinwood community, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 10, 1943, in the serene surroundings of Collinwood, Tennessee, he was a dedicated man whose life was defined by hard work, love for nature, and a deep commitment to his family.
For 30 years, Bobby dedicated himself as a maintenance worker for the Wayne County School System, where his tireless efforts and unwavering reliability touched the lives of countless students and staff. Beyond his profession, Bobby was a true outdoorsman at heart; he delighted in the simple joys of gardening and spending time working in his yard. His passion for the wilderness was evident, as he loved to hunt and fish, always finding solace in the beauty of the great outdoors.
Bobby’s legacy extends beyond his career and hobbies, intertwining with the bonds he shared with his loved ones. He leaves behind a loving brother, Lester Paul Heard (Nancy), along with his nephew Derrick Heard (Amanda), his nieces, Emma, Hannah, and Megan Heard, who brought immense joy to his life.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Birdie Thompson Heard and James Ross Heard.
Visitation will be held on March 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN. On March 2, 2025, a graveside service will take place at Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Collinwood, TN, starting at 1:00 PM.
