We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dwain Winston Moody, also endearingly known as “Scooty”, on January 23, 2025. Born in Jasper, AL, on March 5, 1962, to the late Dwain Sr. and Sally Moody, Dwain was a beacon of laughter, generosity, and an adventurous spirit that touched everyone he met. As Albert Einstein once said, “A life lived for others, is the only life worth living,” and certainly, Dwain lived every day of his life in service of others, spreading joy and love wherever he went. Dwain was member of Double Springs First United Methodist Church. He was always a seeker of truth and knowledge in his spirituality. Dwain also held a cherished place in his heart for his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha at UNA, where he made lifelong friends and memories. He was known by all for his sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a funny story that could brighten even the gloomiest day. His generous spirit was evident in his professional life, where he devoted more than three decades to serving customers in the retail industry. His colleagues and customers alike will deeply miss his warm smile and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. Dwain was an adventurous soul who loved to explore and embrace new experiences. His love for adventure was infectious, inspiring those around him to step out of their comfort zones and live life to the fullest. He was a loving brother to Leashia Moody-Miller, who survives him, always offering his support and love in times of need. His sense of family and love extended beyond his immediate family to his friends, colleagues, and anyone who had the fortune of knowing him. As we say goodbye to our beloved Dwain, we celebrate his life, remembering him not just for the way he died, but for the way he lived and loved. His memory will continue to inspire us to live our lives with kindness, generosity, and a sense of humor. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “It is not length of life, but depth of life.” Dwain’s life, though cut short, was full of depth, touching countless hearts along his journey.
