Catherine Gwyn Helton, 69, of Elkmont, Alabama passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at her home in Elkmont, Alabama.
She was born on Thursday, November 10, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Mr. Forrest Dewey Claunch, Sr. and Mrs. Emma Dean McCluskey.
She was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed taking care of her family. Mrs. Helton enjoyed spending her free time riding around town and fishing. She loved reading books as well.
She is preceded in death by her father, Mr. Forrest Dewey Claunch, her husbands; Mr. Terry Wayne Helton and Harold Travis, Sr., one son; Michael Travis, stepdad; Ray Hayes, as well as one sister; Sherry Fenteress.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Emma Dean McCluskey Claunch, three sons; Harold (Rhonda) Travis, JR., Kevin (Renee) Travis, as well as Jason Travis, one stepson: Wayne Helton, two stepdaughters: Shannon Shay and Elizabeth Helton, two brothers: Forrest (Belinda) Claunch, JR., Dennis Claunch, two sisters: Loretta (Terry) Boldin and Tabatha Hayes, nine Grandchildren; Chandler Norwood, Dakota Travis, Gwynlyn Travis, Ashley Travis, Candace Travis, Alison Travis, Alyssa Travis, Levi Travis, and Seth Travis, four Great-Grandchildren; Aiden Travis, Jonah Travis, Mazelynn Nickens, Lawson Nickens, as well as one special friend, Jeanie Anderson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, AL, beginning at 11:00 AM with Bro. Terry Lee Boldin officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery, located in Ardmore, Alabama.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
