Mary A. Gunter, age 78 of Double Springs, entered into rest on February 22, 2025 at Hendrix health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Gunter was born on August 03, 1946 in Pebble, Alabama. Mary loved her family and friends. She would take time out of her day to talk to anyone. Mary loved to sing good old gospel music. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at New Hope at Mt. Ebron on County Road 25. She will lie in state from 11:00am until 1:00p.m. at the church. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at New Hope at Mt. Ebron Cemetery. Brother Johnny Gunter will officiate. Mary is survived by her son Joey (Tonya) Gunter; stepson, Danny (Karen) Gunter; grandsons, Malachi (Carmella) Gunter and Matthew Gunter; granddaughter, Melanie (Waylon) Holt; three great grandsons, Matthew Thompson, J.J and Levi Gunter; great granddaughters, Jayda Gunter and Lila Holt; brother, O’Neal Carter, sister, Virgie Mae Lewis; special friend and roommate, Della Flake; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joe Gunter; her parents, Virgil and Pernie Carter, sisters, Alfie Mae Smith and Kathy Carter; brothers, Bobby Ray, Doyce, Jerry and Gene Carter; two great granddaughters, Rebecca Faith and Melody Sharlene Gunter.
