Permelia “Pam” Wikle Rogers, 89, died on February 19, 2025, in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born in Sylacauga, Alabama on July 13, 1935, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Lou McElwee.

She graduated from Sylacauga High School, where she was president of her senior class. She graduated from the University of Alabama and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and served as secretary of the sorority. She received a BS degree in Education and worked as a schoolteacher in Montgomery, Alabama. After moving to Huntsville, she was a teacher and also worked on the staff at Randolph School.

Pam was a member of the Church of Nativity, Episcopal. She was a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood and The Order of the Daughters of the King. She was also active in many community organizations including the Junior League of Huntsville, Grace Club Auxiliary, Red Cross, and the Huntsville Museum of Art.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Merritt Wikle Jr.; her parents; and sister, Carol McElwee Harris.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. James (Jim) Rogers; son, Merritt Wikle III (Melissa) of Jasper, Tennessee; daughter, Laura Wikle Jones (Wes) of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren Austin Wikle, Ryan Wikle, Clay Jones and Abby Jones; stepson, James Rogers II (Suzanne) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and stepdaughter, Karen Rogers Ferguson of Huntsville and their children, James Huston Rogers III (Brett), Sarah Katherine Rogers, Emily Ferguson and Rebecca Ferguson.

Visitation will be at the Church of the Nativity, Episcopal on Monday, February 24th at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pam’s memory to The Episcopal Church of the Nativity, the Nativity Historic Preservation Society, or a charity of your choice.
