Notice for Willie "Jack" Walker Chilcoat  Willie Walker “Jack” Chilcoat, 98 years old, passed away on February 7, 2025, at The Meadows. He was born on November 7, 1926, in Fulton to the late General Otis Chilcoat and Bertha Bell Cockrell Chilcoat. He married the love of his life Eva Mae Gray Chilcoat on December 14, 1946, and spent 75 wonderful years together before her death on February 6, 2022. He was a logger most of his life and retired at the age of 87. He first started working with Mr. Louie Kilpatrick and then bought a sawmill. After several years of sawmilling and hauling his own lumber, he and his partner and cousin, Hollis Stephens, owned and operated Chilcoat and Stephens Logging. After Hollis’ death in 2008, he continued to operate Chilcoat and Stephens Logging for several more years. Logging was his life. He still talked about timber daily even after he was admitted into the hospital. He loved his family and extended family. He also loved all of his “boys” that worked for him liked they were his own sons. He loved helping people. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton, Mississippi.

 

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, at the McNeece Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Kenny Digby, Dr. Ken Bishop, and Bro. Scott Hunter officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

 

He is survived by his children, Kathy (Danny) Digby and Gail (Johnny) Adams His grandchildren, Dr. Jason (Susanne) Digby, Carson Wallace, and Clay Adams. His great grandchildren, Sawyer Wallace and Saylor Wallace. His nieces Jana (Ricky) Pitts, Judy (Wayne) Spencer, and Janie Gray. His nephews, Jerry (Carolyn) Maxcy and David Taylor.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Hope Maxcy and June Chilcoat. His nephews, Troy Gray, Travis Gray, and John Gray, one niece, Janet Gray Little and a great niece, Leesa Gray.

 

Pallbearers will be Wesley Graham, Mike Steele, Ricky G. Johnson, Donald Kirk, Jerry Maxcy, and Ricky Pitts.

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rex Hollingsworth, Joe Rutledge, Bobby Beard, J. E. Sims, James Holland, J. R. Perez, Gary Moore, Larry Homan, Martin Faulkner, and Johnny McReynolds.
