Sharon Kay Wilks age 75, of Arab passed away Tuesday Feb. 4, 2025, at her residence. Kay was born on August 27, 1949, in Jefferson County, AL the daughter of Jesse Wilson Walker and Norma Ellen Roper Walker. She was a graduate of Cleveland High School and worked as an LPN at Arab Nursing Home. Kay made the decision to become an RN and graduated from Wallace State with her degree in nursing. She worked for many years at Huntsville Hospital before retiring. She was married to Jerry William Wilks who preceded her in death on December 11, 2013. She was also preceded by her father: Jesse Walker; mother: Norma Ellen Gressman; son: James Michael Wilks and brother: Dale Gressman. Kay was a faithful member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church until failing health prevented her from being active.
She is survived by her children: William Vincent Wilks and Kimberly Contese Wilks; brothers: Don Walker, Larry Gressman and Greg Gressman; sister: Diane Maddox; grandchildren: Michelle Wilks, Chris (Ariel) Wilks, Dylan (Nicole) Wilks and Payge Miles; great grandchildren: Colin Wilks, Brady Baxter, Bryson Baxter, Blakliegh Baxter and Asher Miles along with a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Service will be Monday February 10, 2025, at 2 PM at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be at the Church from 12-2 PM. Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
