Shirley Jo Allen, 72, born in Conroe, Texas, left this world on January 27, 2025, in
Jasper, Alabama. She was the beloved daughter of the late Doyle and Verla Allen.
Shirley leaves behind a loved and devoted family: Son Matthew Ratcliff, Daughters
Kimberly Lenahan, Shelli Hunter, and Tonya Paulk. Grandchildren, Alexandria McIntire
(Husband Nick), Christian Upton, Reid Randolph, Cole Randolph, Sean Paul Wilson,
Sawyer Wilson (Wife Kayla), Savannah Wilson, Rebecca Vaden, and Tyler Paulk;
Great-grandchildren, Maximus, Vera, Sami, Dawson, Amelia, and Rayden, her brother
Jerry and her sister Sandra, to reunite with her parents, sister Sue and her brothers
David, Bo, and Jimmy.
Those who knew Shirley will remember her for her infectious smile, hilarious laugh, and
sassy personality. She was easy-going and had a young-at-heart quality. She loved to
sew and could often be found at her sewing machine making quilts and blankets for her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a rich and full life and made many
happy memories with loved ones. She spent much of her life as a homemaker caring for
her family. Later, she managed Yester Oaks Apartments for Morrow Realty in Fayette,
Alabama, where she made many friends. She very much enjoyed spending time with
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will miss her presence as their
grounding force and know that even in the next life, she is watching over us all.
The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Shirley Jo Allen will be held on
January 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Horizon Memorial Gardens in Dora, Alabama,
with the viewing beginning at 10:00 AM.
