John Henry “Jackie” Douglas, age 79 of Addison, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Jackie was born August 11, 1945 to Austin and Francis Douglas. He loved hunting, fishing, mechanic work, farming, and spending time with his family. Jackie was always ready to help out his neighbors whenever they were in need. He was an avid Alabama football fan. Jackie proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for more than 27 years. He was a pillar of strength to those who knew him. Jackie loved the Lord and was a member of Addison Church of God, where he drove the church bus for 17 years picking up the youth and elderly. Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where a service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Enmondfield Cemtery in Addison. Brother Rodney Ridgeway will officiate. Jackie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Gail Douglas; daughter, Stacy Renea (Anthony) Dela Cruz; son, John Bradley Douglas; grandchildren, Courtney (Robin) Terry, Tory Dela Cruz, Mason Dela Cruz, Logan (Aubrey) Taylor and Connor Douglas; great grandchildren, Colt Henry Terry “Turkey” and Sienna Grace Taylor “Puddin”; brother, David Douglas; sisters, Viola Fortenberry and Susie Peoples; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Francis (Watson) Douglas; son, John Anthony Douglas; grandson, John Brady Douglas; daughter-in-law, Lisa Douglas; brothers, Eugene Douglas Jerome Douglas and George Douglas; sisters, Louise Downs, Evelyn Peoples and Barbara Vincent; uncle, William “Wilbur” Douglas; and a niece and nephews.
