Linda L. Hughes, 70, of Madison AL, passed away on Tuesday, January 14th at her home with her family at her side. She suffered many years with Crohn’s Disease and Kidney Failure. She was born in Youngstown Ohio on November 19th, 1954, and was the daughter of Donald and Mary
Lou Mullane. She graduated from Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio, and Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in various hospitals in Ohio, Northern Virginia, and most recently at LabCorp of America in Huntsville, AL. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Vacation trips to Florida were another of her favorite things to do, especially during the winter months.
She previously did volunteer work as a religious education catechist at St John the Baptist Church in Madison AL.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years John Michael Hughes, Gregory of Madison AL, Daughter Lauren Mickle (Chris), and grandchildren Charlee, Callee, and Remy of Cullman AL. Surviving Siblings include David Mullane (Kay) of Lisbon Ohio, Melissa Llewellyn (Ken) of Youngstown Ohio, and Laurie Gessner (Todd) of Cincinnati Ohio. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for the compassionate care provided during Linda’s last days.
Services will be Friday, January 24th at 11 am at St John the Baptist Church located at 1055 Hughes Rd in Madison, AL. Friends may greet the family between 10 am to 11 am at the church just before the funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts in Linda’s name to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
