George Houston Johnson, 79 of Athens, passed away on Monday, January 13th, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Johnson was born on July 21st, 1945, in Limestone County, to Floyd Johnson and Georgie Chapman Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brenda Johnson; children Bradley Johnson (Fe-Amy), Mitzi Wilson (Tom), and Shala Holloway; grandchildren Caleb Kimbrell (Rachelle), Landon Johnson, Dakota Norman (Colby), and Isabella Johnson; great-grandchildren Lennon Norman, Beckett Norman, Murphy Norman, Jayden Brown, Liam Wellman, and Jasper Kimbrell; sisters Dean Baugher, of Prospect, TN, and Rachel Webb, of Fayetteville, TN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Helen Abernathy, Marcel Williams, and Sharon Stephenson; and brother Bobby Johnson.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be Friday, January 17th, 2025, at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Donald Terry officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00-1:45pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Myers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb Kimbrell, Landon Johnson, Colby Norman, Jason Williams, Chris Baugher, and John Posey.
Mr. Johnson was a special man. He loved working on cars, but most importantly, he dearly loved his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
