Jane Ann Morgan of Decatur, Alabama passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at her residence. Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dallas Culver officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM prior to the service at the chapel. Jane will be laid to rest at Burningtree Memorial Gardens in Decatur, Alabama.
Jane was born to Charlotte Barker in Newark, New Jersey on February 17, 1939.
Jane had a profound love for children and her church. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Music from Athens State University. She spent the next 30+ years working in Daycare, looking after children who became like her own. She was a longtime member of Austinville Methodist Church, where she applied her love of music by singing in the church choir.
Jane is survived by her children, James Morgan (Renee), Eloise Bonjour (Bill), Lori Morgan, Robert Morgan (Sebrena), Tanya Ferrell (Aaron); 16 grandchildren;32 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Jane was a very loving, devoted, and tender person. She cherished spending time with her family, taking care of children, and crocheting. Using her fervent talent for crocheting, Jane treasured the ability to gift her blankets to her friends and family. She also held a deep love for animals and was the proud owner of many different species including dogs, cats, turtles, and birds.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James W. Morgan Jr., and her son, Charles Andrew Morgan, age 21.
Pallbearers will be Robert Morgan, David Lang, Chris Morgan, Chris Ricketts, Bill Bonjour and Aaron Ferrell.
