Melba Joy Morisch Profile Photo Melba Joy Morisch, a beloved mother and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 84. Born on August 3, 1940, in Brownsville, Tennessee, Joy radiated warmth and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

 

Melba dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, pouring her heart and soul into raising her family. Her proudest accomplishment was the love she had for her family, which was evident in every gesture, every conversation, and every moment they shared together. Her nurturing spirit created a home where laughter echoed and love flourished.

 

A proud graduate of Haywood High School, Melba furthered her education at West Tennessee Business College, yet her greatest lessons came from her life experiences, particularly in the nurturing role she embraced so wholeheartedly. Joy was a friend, a confidante, and a guiding light for her family.

 

Community and faith played pivotal roles in Joy’s life. She was deeply committed to her church, finding joy and purpose in her participation and attendance. Her love for attending church was a testament to her unwavering faith, a guiding compass throughout her life.

 

Left to cherish her memory are her step-children, Connie Geary, Melody Tims (Charlie), David Morisch (Cindy), and Chad Tims; step-grandchildren, Chad Tims, Paul Tims, Tyler Morisch, Catie Whitehead, Cameron Morisch, and Madison Morisch; step-great-grandchildren, Leah Tims, Paul Tims, Jr., Madelyn Tims, and Chevy Morisch; one sister-in-law, Virginia Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dan Mathias; second husband, Dwight Morisch; parents, Edgar and Teresa Simpson Smith; and brothers, Gene Smith, Whit Smith, and Buddy Smith.

 

Friends and family are invited to honor Joy’s memory at Oakfield Baptist Church. A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The burial will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery in Brownsville, TN. Joy’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her, and she will be dearly missed by all.

 

As we bid farewell to Melba Joy Morisch, let us remember the love she shared and the lives she touched with her kind heart and gentle spirit.
